Poetry

Stories

They’re how we communicate,
They’re how we share,
And I think they’re a great,
And brilliant way to show we care.

The mediums have changed,
Films, novels, and games,
And we enjoy them no matter our age.

They’re fun and romantic,
Dangerous and scary,
Fantastic and impossible.

They tell more than just adventures,
They do more than let us escape,
They’re a commentary on the world we live in,
Will we listen?

Wanderlust

My heart yearns to explore,
To be where I’ve never been before,
To experience fruits never tasted,
Otherwise life just feels wasted.

To adventure is my goal,
To learn and to grow.
Like a pirate and his gold,
It doesn’t matter where I go

I am the Great Wanderer.
My only destination is “yonder,”
My high a sense of wonder,
A sense of which I grow fonder.

To travel is a must
I must sate this wanderlust

Heaven on Earth

There is a place where Earth and Sky meet.
The Earth reaches for a tender embrace,
But the Sky runs by without a trace.
The Earth longs to touch a love to sweet.

Time makes the Earth loathe to greet,
As the Sky thunders by like a horse in a race.
He does not feel her reach nor see her face.
He is deaf to the way her heart beats.

Soon the Earth’s heart turns to stone,
Great lakes forming from her tears,
And her reaching grasp now is cold.
The Sky missed a love he could have known.

But ever on he flies to new frontiers,
And the dreams of heaven grow old.

Mushrooms

Hidden among the thorns and needles,
In a world known to bugs and beetles
A life grows in fascinating display.
Is it feeding on death and decay?
If you’re not careful it could be fatal.

The Cabin

Out of the cold wind,
And down into the valley,
To warmth and family.

Gold

Golden rays falling on golden grass,
Perhaps riches aren’t real treasure.
Sunlight and nature we have in abundance.

But we hide in towers of glass,
Seeking that instant pleasure.
Go into the trees. Walk in the light,
And dance.

It may look barren. It may look dead.
But life will return in the end.

Wanderers

Wanderers of the near and far,
Explorers of the here and there,
Adventure to unknown and alone,
But not alone.

Into the wild and uncivilized,
What’s so civil about civilization?
So we wander near and far.

Peace & Serenity

To Peace and Serenity,
Away from noise and bustle.
Like there’s value to busy,
There’s a cost to hustle.

Let’s keep it simple,
And not destroy health,
Both physical and mental.

Scars

Ant-sized man works a frenzy,
Putting scars in the land,
And its madness, can’t you see?
Thinking we’re so grand,
Trying to make the world small,
And feel bigger than we are.

The rivers cut and slice,
Creating rooms for life.
Man destroys and builds,
But only concrete grows.

New Years

Another year come and gone,
Complete with highs and lows.
There are memories of which I’m fond,
And things that can fucking go.
Here’s to cycles and seasons,
May the changes be enough.

Coffee Stains

There was a time,
When I dreamt you were mine.
We gazed into the night,
And it just felt right,
Staring at stars,
Back when we had no scars.

Its been years,
I have my fears,
Thinking of seeing you again,
Brings me closer to tears.

You left coffee stains on my soul,
And I still dream of a time,
When you were mine.

The Woodpecker’s Song

A hush falls on the wood,
Everything that’s good,
Falls silent.

A woodpecker hammers out a song,
In protest of things gone wrong,
Refusing to be compliant.

There will be a day when the sun will shine,
The wood will have song and be just fine.

Friends

There’s a plave where I need to be,
It can be far away with new mates,
Or with an old friend and coffee.
The journey and experience is important,
But not as important as the people,
I share this life with.

Don’t Disturb the Snow

Don’t disturb the snow.
Make not a sound.
The stone giants rest in their slumber.
Sit and take in the beauty of this place.
The trees are now your church.
The ice your stained glass.
To wake the mountains,
Is to bring devastation,
To destroy the peace of this green cathedral.

Comfort Zone

Stay on the path and in the light,
Don’t go into the shadow of the trees.
There are things in the dark,
On your thoughts they’ll feed.

Its safer on the trail,
To walk where others have tread.
Ignore your curiosities,
Avoid the monstrosities.

Don’t go into the unknown,
Stay in your comfort zone,
You’ll only end up alone.

Shadows illuminates,
Light examinates,
Experience penetrates.
This is your fate.

Return from the unknown,
And you’ll find you’ve grown.

Behind the Falls

Behind the falls is where the magic is. Stories of the secret land of faerie folk and wizards. When the frost giants take control is when the Faerie King closes the gateway, and trolls begin to guard the falls. But the magic still seeps through into stories and art.

Magic is fuel for dreams.

Grotto

Towering cliffs and a road of ice,
I knew moving on would not be nice.
A broken heart on its way to mending,
Must realize this is not an ending.

With a few companions,
We seek the unknown,
Exploring the deep canyons,
And remembering how I’ve grown.

Serenity and Tranquility

Serenity and Tranquility,
Words to describe my escape,
From apparent civility.

Here alone,
But not lonely.
Hidden among rocks and trees,
A mountain must be all one truly needs.

Rage

The rage has subsided,
A roar calmed to a murmur.
Temper as cool as ice,
Can suddenly change to murder.

To be so close,
To feel the peace.
Underneath it flows,
The power will never cease.

Beware the calm,
Nature does not care for you.
And as sudden as a bomb,
The rage has returned for you.

Rapid

Flying past,
Like the memories of my youth,
Into the wild we go.
Absorbing the ambience,
Smelling the serenity,
Chasing the quietude,
Touching the tranquility.

Time does not exist in this place,
It s t o p s…. Itspeedsup.
Stand still.
The river races by.
This is a peacable kingdom.

Palm Reading

She read me like a book,
Saying secrets I never shared,
And I loathed it,
Like the epics and sagas must despise,
Cole and his Notes.

She told my story having never read it,
Mentioning highlights and lowlights.
How dare she flip through me,
Like a dime store novel.
What I felt was something close to awful.

She stopped where I was at,
And I made a joke.
She stared into my soul,
And I felt stark naked,
Though I was fully clothed.

Mist I

Feel the rush,
Feel the thrill.
Let yourself gush,
Let yourself feel.
Catch the mystery,
Feel the mist.

Mist II

The mist of emotion clouds his logic,
And all he sees is her,
Off in a far away land,
Surrounded by culture and sounds anew.
Things are getting out of hand.
If only he knew what to do.

Monument

How great is the hubris of man,
Fighting one another,
Based on colour or religion.
Yet here we are,
Building memories to men,
Bent on subservience to a piece of cloth,
Over a piece of ground.

Machu Picchu

Walk through the doors,
And climb the hill.
You look up,
And the fog rolls away.

Pictures don’t do it justice,
Leaving you unprepared.
Wonder covers you like a drape,
So you stand and stare,
Mouth left agape,
But you don’t care.

The sun rises over the peaks.
You want to speak,
But words lack the same flair,
So you just stand and stare.

Wanderlust II

I’m starving for an adventure,
Thirsting for a grand wander,
To get out of this place I dwell,
To get out of this living hell.

Same old, same old routine,
Feeding the capitalist machine,
Is like a slow suicide,
For someone born to fly.

Days crawl by at agonizing pace,
My soul yearns to explore.
Going insane in one place,
All I need is more.

Wendigo

If you wander in the dark,
You’ll hear the trees bark,
But beware their bite.
The woods are alive,
And you’ll need to fight,
Yet ahead you drive.
There’s something out there,
So why don’t you care?

It feeds on your dark thoughts,
Leaving your stomach in knots,
Sapping your will,
Until you’re completely… Still.
Watch out for the wendigo,
Back into the dark we go.

She Who Shall Not Be Named

It was because of her,
I did what I did,
To be together,
If I’m being candid.

She showed me things,
I never knew I needed.
Made me feel like a king,
When I was a fool.

We’re not together anymore.
Hard to believe it was her,
That I longed for.

Living Art

Lights dancing in my brain,
Moving to the beat of my heart,
Jump the train,
Of thought,
Ignore the pain,
This is the best part,
Living life is an art.

Heartache

I’m no longer the same,
Man I was when you came.
Destroyed was my heart,
And now it makes this art.
Please let me go,
Release me from my vow.
No longer the man I used to be,
Release me so I can be free.

Ghost Lake

You Take my breathe away,
You make me feel numb.
I’d love to stay,
And have more fun.

It took too long to take the plunge,
Soaking it in like a sponge.

But what I really want,
Is to move my fingers again,
After your cold shoulder touch.

Mountain High King

I want a crown of fog and a veil of mist more than anything else in the world. To literally live with my head in the clouds.

The River

Life is like a river,
It flows and turns,
It sometimes murmurs.
Sometimes it violently churns.
Storms come and go,
With dramatic change.
Alone a drop has little to show,
With persistence, even mountains cave.

Motivation

Climb higher,
Go further,
Swim deeper,
Reach for the stars,
Live your life,
And leave it,
Having lived,
Rather than existed.

Bloody Pirate

It was just another day,
When you asked me out.
I thought it would be okay,
But you had your doubt.

Being with you was easy,
Like we did this before,
Easy breezy, lemon squeezy,
Until you could do it no more.

You were a fucking pirate,
And you broke my heart.
I hated you like a rat,
And felt torn apart.

You stole my heart,
And you left your mark.

Grief

I was 6 when I first said no to you.
For a boy to cry, it was not cool.
Like an ice cold princess,
I shall remain emotionless.

When you came round again,
Thirteen I had just turned then.
Several casualties already gone,
I need to stay strong.

You’ve returned once more,
And declared your war.
This time you shall not win,
But I’ve already given in.

I wanted to be Peter Pan,
And fly away to Neverland.
I need to grieve,
Death I must receive.

Music

Take me to a place,
Where creeks murmur stories,
And where trees sway,
To the music of the wind.
Let me hear the songs,
Of nature in tune
With the beat of my heart.

Grounded

We look to the skies,
And to the future,
Beyond the void,
Ideas popping like fireflies.
But we’re not willing to nurture,
Nature.

We grow bigger and better,
While making everything,
Else lesser and smaller,
For the almighty dollar.
Earth can survive without humanity.
Can humanity survive without Earth?

Heart Matters

I need help,
But I don’t know what for.
This pounding in my chest,
Never felt this deep before.
The rage goes deep,
Just waiting to explode.
I’m building walls,
To protect a heart of gold.
But too late,
I find it turned to stone.
Is it anger or is it fear?
I need to get out of here.

A Poem

I use poetry,
To convey emotion,
Because I can’t use words.
I create art to capture,
That which I can’t create.

Trapped

Stuck inside this place,
With no way out,
Voices not my own,
Whispering nothing but lies.

Looking out windows,
I must continue fighting.
Been stuck inside so long,
Freedom is a concept,
Quite frightening.

I have no motivation,
But I have discipline.
I am exhausted,
But I have to try,

To find a way out,
Outside my head.

Coffee in my Hand

People walking by,
Coffee in their hands,
Going where they go.

Do they know?
I stop and stand,
Watching people fly.

I wonder why,
People wander by,
I wonder why.

Why they go?
I don’t know,
Where they go.

I just stand,
With a coffee in my hand.

Afternoon Reading

You lay there, head in my lap,
As I read a tale of love and adventure.
You say, “This is perfect.”
I sip my tea and read aloud,
Thinking of our tale of love and adventure.

Imagination

Doorways to land of imagination,
Are often very small,
Because it only takes a spark,
A seed of an idea,
To find a great big world.

Murmuration

As you approach the frozen falls,
You feel a sense of awe, of reverence,
Like approaching the altar of a cathedral.
No choir or organ to distract you,
No priest or congregation telling you,
“Stand up. Sit down.”
There’s no wrong way to worship here.
All you can hear are the murmuring prayers,
Of water flowing beneath your feet.
Knowing a few inches of ice separate you,
From cold below,
You feel at peace.
